Meets: 4th Thursday March, May, July, Sept- 10 - 11:30 am and the 3rd Thursday in November
The committee works to create an agenda for growing Indiana's life science economy. The committee operates three subcommittees: * Marketing: Identifying opportunities to promote Indiana as a location to build life science businesses * Information Exchange: working to develop an organic business growth model that focuses on the hospital and medical community as an idea generator. This effort is working to create a process that can be replicated in communities across the state. * Statewide Strategic Planning: working with partners across the state to implement a comprehensive strategic plan for the life science industry. Works with communities to identify their health and life science assets. The planned next step is to build local development strategies that will eventually feed into a statewide strategy.

Meets: 2nd Monday April, June, August, October, December 1:30 - 3:00 pm
Groundbreaking work was done in 2002 with the Forum's Workforce Gap Analysis, illustrating the disconnect between the need for workers and the availability of workers in health-related jobs. An updated report was created by the Indianapolis Private Industry Council in 2006 titled, "Industry Transformation: Growth and Change in Life Science in Central Indiana". The committee has been reviewing past studies to determine how to monitor the workforce gaps in real time and communicate educational needs more effectively with educational institutions to encourage curriculum changes or adding certificate programs to meet the demands.

Meets: 4th Monday April, June, July, September, November - 10:00 am - noon
The committee formulates the public policy stands for IHIF board approval. The goal of the committee and the Forum is to advocate for changes that will assure a strong business climate for life science companies in Indiana. A key Forum-led issue and success in the past was the creation of the 21st Century Fund. More recently, IHIF stressed the importance of the heal and life science sectors by sharing the results of its 2005 Critical Mass report with lawmakers, revealing that more than 20 percent of Indiana's state taxes come directly or indirectly from health-related jobs.
